Risk Management

The Risk Management Department maintains all insurance related records and monitors activity including policy issuance, certificates of insurance, pre and post event loss control and coverage issues. All dwelling unit inspections are scheduled and conducted by department staff subject to Federal Housing Quality Standards for the Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs and assistance is provided with HUD mandated REAC inspections.

It also coordinates resident safety education and performs investigations of personal injury, property, auto and workers compensation accidents or incidents.

Please Note: Any appliances not required by HQS that are in the apartment must be operational for inspection to pass (Ex: Dishwasher, Range Hood, Etc.)

Security

The Security Department of the Albany Housing Authority is responsible for preserving and protecting the safety and security of the residents, staff, visitors and property. The Security Director oversees the assignment and assures the accountability of off-duty Albany Police Officers who are employed by the Authority under a tri-party agreement between the City, the Police Officers union and AHA. The Department manages interaction and cooperation with Federal, State, County and local law enforcement on issues involving AHA and the surrounding community. Staff advises and facilitates installation, control and monitoring of electronic surveillance and security equipment.
